Kanal

After the action-thriller Shikkar, Mohanlal, M Padmakumar and scriptwriter Suresh Babu are teaming up again for the second time. Titled Kanal, the movie is touted to be a family thriller. Mohanlal is working with M Padmakumar after a gap of five years. The movie is being planned to shot in a realistic way and will go on floors by August 2015. It is reported that, a young actor has been roped to share screen space with Mohanlal. 

Filmmaker Padmakumar says the story of Kanal revolves around two people who are stuck in Dubai, affected by the recession, and are now back to God's Own Country. "The two don't share a similar lifestyle and have had different experiences in Dubai. What happens after they meet in Kerala forms the plot of the story."
Vinod Illampilly will crank the camera while Ouseppachan will be the music director. Ernakulam, Mysore, Munnar and Dubai will be the major shooting locations.

മോഹന്‍ലാലും എം. പത്മകുമാറും ഒന്നിക്കുന്ന പുതിയ ചിത്രത്തിന് കനല്‍ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. മുന്‍ ചിത്രമായ ശിക്കാര്‍ പോലെ ഇതുമൊരു ത്രില്ലര്‍ ത ന്നെയാണ്. ശിക്കാറിനു തിരക്കഥയെഴുതിയ സുരേഷ്ബാബു തന്നെയാണു കഥയും തിരക്കഥയും ഒരുക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നത്. ദുബൈയില്‍ ജോലി നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട് നാ്ട്ടിലെത്തുന്ന രണ്ടുപേരുടെ കഥയാണിത്. രണ്ടുപേരും പ്രതികാരബുദ്ധിയോടെയാണു തിരിച്ചെത്തുന്നത്. എന്നാല്‍ ദുബൈയില്‍ ഒരു ബന്ധവുമില്ലാതിരുന്ന ഇവര്‍ നാട്ടിലെത്തിയതോടെയാണ് ലക്ഷ്യം ഒന്നാണെന്നു തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നത്.

മോഹന്‍ലാലിനൊപ്പം മലയാളത്തിലെ യുവനടനും പ്രധാന വേഷം ചെയ്യും. അത് പൃഥ്വിരാജോ ദുല്‍ഖര്‍ സല്‍മാനോ ആവാന്‍ സാധ്യതയുണ്ടെന്നും അറിയുന്നു. രണ്ടുപേരില്‍ ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരാള്‍ തന്നെയായാലും മലയാള സിനിമയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് അതൊരു പ്രതീക്ഷ നല്‍കുന്ന കാര്യമാണ്.
ശിക്കാറിലെ പോലെ പല രഹസ്യങ്ങള്‍ സൂക്ഷിക്കുന്നൊരു കഥാപാത്രത്തെയാണ് ലാല്‍ കനലില്‍ അവതരിപ്പിക്കുന്നത്. മനസ്സില്‍ എരിയുന്ന കനലുമായി ജീവിക്കുന്ന രണ്ടുപേരുടെ കഥയാണിത്.
